The purpose of the National Innovation Policy – PNI (Decree No. 10,534/2020), under its art. 1, is to:
- “guide, coordinate and articulate the strategies, programs and actions to foster innovation in the productive sector, to stimulate increased productivity and competitiveness of companies and other institutions that generate innovation in the country” and
- “establish cooperation mechanisms between the states, the Federal District and the municipalities to align federal initiatives and policies to foster innovation with the initiatives and policies formulated and implemented by the other federative entities.”
The axes for implementing the PNI, its principles, objectives, guidelines and instruments are likewise set out in the Decree, which also establishes the Innovation Chamber, the body responsible for structuring and operating the policy’s instruments.
