Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is the ability and willingness to identify opportunities to create new things that bring innovation to society, giving the country a competitive advantage. NIT Rio provides entrepreneurship training to researchers, technicians, fellows and graduate students so they can start their own business from their scientific projects.

To be an entrepreneur is to take the initiative of creating businesses or promoting changes in existing companies. The term is widely used in the productive sector and is often related to developing solutions to an observed problem, which may result in creating a company or bringing new products/services to the market, impacting consumer relations.

Scientific entrepreneurship

One of the quiet trends in entrepreneurship is Scientific Entrepreneurship.

Driven on one hand by good ideas and on the other by the need for alternatives to scholarships, young scientists and researchers increasingly pursue projects that help fund new professional opportunities. A graduate program or an industry job are not the only possible paths. Some successful entrepreneurs show that it is possible to be part of the world of scientific publications and, at the same time, commercialize their discoveries.

According to the Innovation Law, fostering an environment conducive to the creation of companies is one of the goals of Technological Innovation Centers (NITs). Through entrepreneurship, it is possible to develop new skills to create startups or academic spin-offs from science-based projects geared to the needs of society.

NIT Rio and entrepreneurship
