Energy solutions are an increasingly relevant option for companies seeking to reduce their environmental impact and ensure long-term business sustainability. The Research Units linked to the NIT Rio Arrangement, for example, study the use of biomass to produce aviation fuels, a sustainable way of generating energy. In another example, INT and CETEM developed, using ornamental stones and polymeric structures, a floor capable of generating energy as people walk on it – yet another innovative way of producing energy. Our units also carry out R&D&I ranging from characterizing regions with fossil fuels through computer simulations and potential prospecting methods to using waste substances for energy generation. With innovative production and transmission technologies, it is possible to significantly reduce dependence on fossil fuels and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
