# Health and Biotechnology

## **Design of technologies from biological compounds. Development of techniques, materials and processes for therapeutic purposes**

The demand for more effective and personalized health solutions keeps growing, creating opportunities for companies that invest in biotechnology. CBPF develops hydroxyapatite-based biomaterials that are biocompatible, meaning they do not cause adverse, toxic reactions in the human body or other biological systems. One application is the use of these materials in dental implants, medical devices, prostheses and surgical instruments, where product safety and efficacy are essential. Another important Research Unit is LNCC, which develops computational modeling and other applications, for instance for the pharmaceutical industry through: simulation of molecular docking; simulation of human blood circulation for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases; genomic studies of agents of neglected diseases; climate and biodiversity studies, among others – all solutions aimed at better prevention and therapy strategies. By investing in research and development in these areas, companies can reach new markets and contribute to the advancement of health and well-being in society.
